A family friendly restaurant in the heart of Cardiff Bay

If you love great American dining then you need to try Grill & Shake at the Red Dragon Centre, Cardiff. From burgers and steaks to wraps, hot dogs and Tex Mex they’ve got all the classics covered. Just be sure to leave room for one of their famous milkshakes!

We were recently invited down to try some of the menu for ourselves. To start, I went with the Ultimate Nachos and Rob chose the Crispy Chicken Tenders. Lou went for the Mozzarella Dippers which came with an amazing cajun mayo for dipping. We loved the dip so much we ordered extra to have with our mains!

For the main course we had to try out some of their burgers. Rob went with the classic hamburger – flame grilled and served in a toasted brioche bun. I chose the Kentucky Chicken burger – crispy chicken tenders in a brioche bun with cajun mayo and American cheese. Both served with skin-on fries. Lou went with a steak with creamy mushroom sauce. The sauce was the perfect accompaniment and went down a treat.

We ordered garlic bread and onion rings as a side. As an onion ring lover I was excited to try these…I was not disappointed, they were fabulous!

For dessert I went with the chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. The cake was rich, gooey and everything you would want from a fudge cake – a proper Bruce Bogtrotter cake!

Grill & Shake offer fresh ‘made to order’ milkshakes using the very best vanilla ice-cream. You can choose from a variety of different flavours to create your own. Rob chose to create his own – a combination of M&Ms and Peanut Butter.

Lou went for the show-stopping ‘PoshNut’ milkshake, Nutella, Forrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. The shake even included a whole kinder bueno chocolate bar!

There really is something for everyone at Grill & Shake and it’s ideal for families. On Sunday’s kids even eat free! Be sure to check out their website for T&Cs and all their other offers.
